Hold on tight.

Some songs just seem to give you what you need when you need it.

Electric Light Orchestra was singing right to me the other day…

Hold on tight to your dream
When you see your ship go sailing
When you feel your heart is breaking
Hold tight to your dream

And now I cannot get it out of my head. It is important to create a dream in your head. Visualize that dream and then never, ever let go of it. Things may not always go the way that you thought they would, but you will still end up with the results you want…if you can “hold on tight to your dream!”

See where you want to go and then have a little faith in the process. It matters not how you get there, only that you end up getting there. So enjoy the adventure, and the unknowns, that life gives you. The unknown will only be an unknown for a little longer. Clever advice from my mom, Janet Legere.

Dream big and then never let that dream fade or be taken from you. You are in control, even when you tell yourself you’re not.

It’s TGIWWW (Wicked Women’s Wednesday) tomorrow…and I am looking forward to my standing Wednesday lunch with my mom and my sister. We are coming into our fourth year of choosing to spend Wednesday afternoons together! And even after all these years, the time always goes too quickly on Wednesdays.

Thanks for choosing to read my inspirations. You ROCK!

Just add Fun.

The Best Books on Self Help will teach you how to get happy.  One way to do this quickly is to add fun!

I was volunteering at my daughters school the other day and in gym class the kids were doing skipping. I was immediately taken back to the asphalt of my elementary school and I vividly remembered skipping my lunch hours and recesses away. The challenges of learning to skip double dutch and doing double- and triple- unders while singing silly rhyming songs had me reminiscing and giggling to myself. And I found myself wanting more of it!

As we age, the pressures of work and family and home life leave little time for fun. But fun is what keeps us going. Fun is what motivates us to hop out of bed in the morning. Creating fun in our lives inspires us, makes us smile, and helps us learn in a positive way. Fun is what it’s all about.

Think back to your days as a child and think about an activity that you really enjoyed, like skipping, softball, hockey or dancing. Remember the fun you had. And start creating some of that fun energy in your life right now!

My birthday is coming soon, and this year I am asking for 2 long skipping ropes and a couple of friends willing to take turns skipping double dutch. I am already imagining the conversations that we can have, and the laughter that will ensue from an afternoon of skipping on a chilly spring day.

Add some fun to your life today. Namaste.

Love is in the air.

Today is the day that we are supposed to tell the people we love how much we love them.  There is an expectation that one will receive flowers, chocolates, jewelery or a beautiful, romantic night out.

I love the idea of Valentine’s Day in that we tell people we care about them and appreciate them.  What I do not like are all of the expectations that we have placed on one day.   I think we should consider every day to be like Valentine’s Day and not wait for one day to tell our loved ones how we feel.  And I also do not think you should feel pressured to spend a lot of money on something to give to your loved ones as a sign of affection.

Making a homemade card with an affectionate saying on it, or writing a love note and giving it to someone can be more powerful than any diamond bracelet. (don’t get me wrong, diamonds are still a girls best friend…)

Don’t wait for Valentine’s Day.  Say “I Love You” everyday with your words and with your actions.  Getting flowers on a day that is not Valentine’s Day will surprise your sweetheart even more.

Express your love everyday and always try to maintain an element of surprise.  Everyone loves a good surprise.  Happy Valentine’s Day!

Don’t do too much.

Feeling stressed and overworked? Not able to take a sick day? Assess what you are doing with your time.  You may have to let something go.  You do not have to do it all, you just have to do what you need to get the results you want.  And if what you are doing causes more stress for you than the benefits, let it go.  Namaste.

Sing your way through life.

“Music in the soul can be heard by the universe.”
Lao Tzu

There is a song for every moment in your life.  And sometimes, it just feels good to sing your song.

When I need to rock it out… Metallica One.

When I need a pick me up, or am singing Karaoke… I’m Yours, Jason Mraz.

When I’m hauling booze… any top 20 with big base, played loud.

When I just need to feel more emotion… Adele, Someone Like You.

Figure out what songs really motivate you and make you feel good.  Play more of those.  And sing along.  The Universe will hear you.  Namaste.

Have Faith.

“Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe.”
Saint Augustine

Have faith in yourself and the Universe.  You have the ability to tap into the Universe, and the Universe will always provide.  Start by having faith in your own abilities and dreams.  Figure out what you passionately want in life, and have enough faith to know in your heart that you will be able to have what you want.  See your dreams vividly in your own head, and soon those dream will be tangible in your life.  Namaste.

Effort.

Effort and action produce results.  Motivation and desire inspire efforts and actions.

Look at your life.  You will notice that you are seeing results in the areas that you are putting the most effort into.  Not getting the results you want? Ask yourself if you are truly putting in the effort.  Then ask yourself if you truly want to get results in that area.    If you are motivated, you will put in the effort.  So, why are you not motivated to get the results you think you want? What is holding back?

You are the only one holding you back.  You can do anything if you put your mind to it. Break the walls down and tell yourself that you CAN do it.

Figure out what you really want, and what really motivates you.  This is the key.  Everything else will fall into place once you have that straight in your own mind.

Motivation.  Effort.  Results.

TGIW!

Namaste.

On getting what you want.

“The squeaky wheel gets the grease”

The only way you will get what you want is by asking for it! And do not take “no” for an answer.  There is always a way, so just keep asking questions, even when you run into roadblocks.  You may need to ask different people, or ask for it in a different way, but be persistent.  The result is what we want, so keep it in the forefront of your mind.   How we get there may not matter as much, so be prepared to follow a path that you may not have been down before, or that you did not anticipate.  Be prepared for the opportunities that come when you start asking for things.  You will get the grease if you are squeaky enough.  Namaste!

4 Hugs a Day…

“4 Hugs a Day, that’s the minimum.  4 Hugs a Day, not the maximum!”

You need 4 hugs a day just to survive, but don’t stop there! The more the better! Human touch is essential to our well being, so start hugging more! Once you start doing this more, you will notice how a simple hug can energize you and make you feel better.  And the longer the hug, the better.   Improve your day with a hug (or 4!).  Namaste!
